It was a good run, but the Assumption Royals unfortunately witnessed the end of their 21-game winning streak on Monday. They were outmatched by Aquinas on the road and fell 66-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Assumption has scored all season.
Leading Aquinas to victory were Madeline Murphy and Samantha Davis. Murphy scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Davis scored 20 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Davis hasn't dropped below 15 points for 21 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Elias, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Assumption's loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 21-1. As for Aquinas, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Assumption won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pacelli at 7:15 p.m. on February 13th. Pacelli will roll in looking for their 21st straight victory, something Assumption surely won't give up without a fight. As for Aquinas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Onalaska at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Onalaska is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
