Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Central Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

The St. Joseph Central Irish got the win against the Chesapeake Panthers on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The Irish might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Brody Runyon was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Runyon was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, St. Joseph Central let Hudson Moosavi and Wyatt Pence run wild. Moosavi went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Pence went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Moosavi has posted since back in April. David Beane was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

St. Joseph Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chesapeake only posted a batting average of .286.

St. Joseph Central's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Chesapeake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.

St. Joseph Central will head out to take on South Charleston at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chesapeake, they will welcome South Gallia at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
