The Gainesville Cardinals scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 78-54 margin over Unity Reed. Given Gainesville's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Unity Reed is ranked 376th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Unity Reed's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Charles Pargo, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds, and Russell Robinson who scored 20 points. Pargo scored a full 50% of Unity Reed's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Gainesville pushed their record up to 9-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Unity Reed, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Gainesville will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Patriot at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. One thing working in Patriot's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games. As for Unity Reed, they will head out on the road to face off against Park View at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Park View is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.4 points per game.
