The Woodinville Falcons will head out to face off against the Lake Washington Kangaroos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Woodinville easily dispatched Skyline on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Falcons fell just short of Issaquah by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Falcons have suffered since April 19, 2024.
Woodinville got a good showing from Cooper Angellar, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Woodinville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Wenzel, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Lake Washington owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Newport - Bellevue with a sharp 7-0 win. The Kangaroos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by seven runs or more this season.
Not much got past Mason Smithwick, who gave up just four hits to keep Newport - Bellevue off the board. Smithwick also tossed no walks, which is notable because Lake Washington is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Malachi Toungate and Boden Reeve did most of the damage at the plate: Toungate scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Reeve scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three hits gave Toungate a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aidan Mehlberg, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Lake Washington pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Woodinville, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Woodinville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lake Washington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
