The Arvada West Wildcats lost against the Valor Christian Eagles back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Arvada West took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Arvada West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Eagles are ranked fourth).
Arvada West's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Saylor Swanson, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Malorie Byrne, who scored 14 points along with two blocks.
It was another big night for Quinn Vansickle, who scored 28 points for Valor Christian. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vansickle has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Jones, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Arvada West's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Valor Christian, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arvada West will stay at home for another game and welcome the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. Hopefully Ralston Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Wednesday. As for Valor Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
