Bleckley County is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Swainsboro is on a eight-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bleckley County Royals will take on the Swainsboro Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Bleckley County humbled East Laurens with a 42-13 victory. 42 seems to be a good number for Bleckley County as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Bleckley County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joshua Stanley out in front who rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Cam Beck was another key contributor, gaining 47 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Swainsboro got themselves on the board against East Laurens two weeks ago, but East Laurens never followed suit. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 63-0 victory over the Falcons. Given Swainsboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 89th, while East Laurens is ranked 331st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Qindaruis Brown was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 110 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Demello Jones, who rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding East Laurens to a paltry 48 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Swainsboro's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. East Laurens' QB won't forget Jylerris Williams anytime soon given Williams sacked him four times.
Their wins bumped Bleckley County to 7-2 and Swainsboro to 8-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Bleckley County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Swainsboro struggles in that department as they've been even better at 308.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Bleckley County came up short against Swainsboro in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 28-21. Will Bleckley County have more luck at home instead of on the road?
