The Newton Eagles lost against the Diboll Lumberjacks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Newton received a tough blow as they fell 58-40 to Diboll. Newton has not had much luck with Diboll recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Diboll found their leader in underclassman Tyrece Mcmillan, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Malachai Mitchell, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Diboll, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newton will take on Pollok Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pollok Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Newton in Texas (Pollok Central is ranked 453rd, while Newton is ranked 1506th). As for Diboll, they will be playing at home against Huntington at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Diboll focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
