Football Recap: Cathedral Catholic Skates Past Academy of Our Lady of Peace with Ease

Cathedral Catholic got themselves on the board against Academy of Our Lady of Peace on Tuesday, but Academy of Our Lady of Peace never followed suit. They took their match with ease, bagging a 27-0 win over the Pilots. The Dons have beaten the Pilots the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pilots has come to flipping the script.

Olivia Dianda had a dynamite game, picking up 75 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabrina Jutronich, who threw for 80 yards and two touchdowns.

Cathedral Catholic didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Academy of Our Lady of Peace to a completion percentage of just 48.7%. The Dons weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 60.6%.

Cathedral Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Payton Steinberg picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. She got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Cathedral Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Cathedral Catholic will head out to challenge Granite Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Dons 7, the Eagles 13) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they will head out on the road to face off against Crawford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
