Softball Recap: Calvert Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Calvert, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past the Old Fort Stockaders 13-3 on Monday. Considering the Senecas have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison King made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Calvert got a massive performance out of Gracie Miller, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Claire Shoenberger was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Calvert kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Old Fort only managed four hits.

Calvert's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Old Fort, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvert will venture away from home to face off against Clyde at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Old Fort, they will square off against St. Mary Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
