Gilbert Classical Academy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They claimed a resounding 71-30 victory over the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gilbert Classical Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Yates, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards. Thanks to that strong game, Yates now owns an excellent 63.6% field goal percentage. Blake Carlson was another key player, going 8 of 19 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds.

Gilbert Classical Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, St. Augustine Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jovanni Fernandez posted ten points and five boards. Fernandez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Omar Valdez, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Gilbert Classical Academy's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15.

Gilbert Classical Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-27 victory against Chandler Prep on the 3rd. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they have also already played their next game, a 64-37 defeat against Desert Christian on the 3rd.
