NCSSM: Morganton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 15th straight loss. They were dealt a 43-10 loss at the hands of Owen. NCSSM: Morganton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-2.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Zoe Shut and
Diavione Moore, who each put up four points.
It was another big night for Ellie Martin, who scored 13 points for Owen. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Roland, who scored six points.
NCSSM: Morganton dropped their record down to 1-15 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.1 points per game. As for Owen, their win ended a 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-18.
NCSSM: Morganton will be playing at home against Draughn at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. NCSSM: Morganton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last 15 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Owen, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Avery County at 6:00 p.m. Owen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 507th, while Avery County is ranked 219th).
