Doherty has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Liberty Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Doherty has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 387 points over their last six contests.
Even though Cherry Creek scored an imposing 57 points on Saturday, Doherty still came out on top. Doherty walked away with a 67-57 win over Cherry Creek.
Doherty relied on the efforts of Elijah Mack, who scored 17 points along with three steals, and Maddox Dee-Mortensen, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dee-Mortensen has scored all season. James Pulliam was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Liberty's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Pine Creek. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while Pine Creek is ranked 88th).
London Praytor put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cameron Cunningham, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Doherty is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Liberty, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Doherty didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Liberty when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 47-43 win. Does Doherty have another victory up their sleeve, or will Liberty turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
