The Mountain Ridge Sentinels made easy work of the Layton Lancers on Wednesday and carried off a 15-5 victory. Considering the Sentinels have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Red Brooks made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Brooks was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mountain Ridge got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Van Renselaar, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Van Renselaar has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tatyana Toala, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Mountain Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Layton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.
Mountain Ridge will challenge Bingham at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Sentinels 2.9, the Miners 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Layton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fremont at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
