The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.
Taravella started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-20.
Western found their leader in sophomore Ian Bristol, who had 16 digs and one assist. Bristol is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 14 or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Karroum, who had seven digs, six kills, and three blocks.
Taravella's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Western, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Taravella is taking a road trip to face off against Nova at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Western, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Chaminade-Madonna on the 15th.
