Cornerstone Christian hasn't had much luck against Kirtland recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 12:00 p.m. Cornerstone Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
On Tuesday, Cornerstone Christian made easy work of Richmond Heights and carried off a 3-0 win.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Cornerstone Christian took every set by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-5, 25-6, 25-12.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cornerstone Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ashley Hansen, who had seven digs and four aces. Hansen is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Gillam, who had five aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Cornerstone Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 27 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 22 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Kirtland lost 3-0 to Rootstown on Thursday.
Kirtland was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-19, 25-21.
Kirtland's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Cornerstone Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
Cornerstone Christian suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Kirtland in their previous meeting back in September of 2021.
