The Marquez Gladiators scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Maywood Academy 92-48 at home. Winning may never get old, but Marquez sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Marquez was led to victory by Julian Nunez and Lamont White Jr. Nunez scored 27 points along with four steals, while White Jr almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, nine assists, and 11 steals. That's the first time this season that White Jr posted eight or more assists. Elyjah Staples was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Marquez has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Maywood Academy, they bumped their record down to 7-13 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Marquez will face off against Walnut at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Walnut is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games. As for Maywood Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Sotomayor at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
