Ashley Herman spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Taelyn Jriyasetapong made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Clementine Wyse, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Mt. Diablo lost 26-14 to Piedmont on Friday.
Mt. Diablo got a massive performance out of Faith Sotelo, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Sotelo is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Sarah Bravo- Ortega was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Northgate's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Mt. Diablo, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-5.
Mt. Diablo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northgate has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Mt. Diablo, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Northgate's sizable advantage in that area, the Red Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
Northgate got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 against Mt. Diablo by a conclusive 17-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
