West Alameda County - Shoreline recap Sept. 26, 2012
Arroyo was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in West Alameda County - Shoreline. The Dons beat Oakland Tech 20-13 earlier in the week.
Piedmont extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Washington, 19-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Isaac Tapia and Ryan Gordan gave Arroyo a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Tapia threw for 134 yards and one touchdown, while Gordan ran for 67 yards. DeJon Savage also contributed to the rushing game with 49 yards on the ground.
Joshua Handy was the best wideout in the league this week as Tennyson bested Oakland. Handy tallied 14 receptions for 155 yards. Anthony Foster helped Tennyson's passing attack out by catching one ball for 23 yards.
The Lancers' Gilberto Magallanes and Datron Smith have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading West Alameda County - Shoreline in both passing and receiving yards. Magallanes has thrown for 483 yards this season, while Smith, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 15 catches for 294 yards. San Lorenzo's Jose SanchePerez leads the league in rushing yards with 189.
Tennyson moved up to 553 from 636 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 50-0 win over the Wildcats helped the Lancers improve their standing.
