The Stanton Mustangs won the last time they faced the Wisner-Pilger Gators, and things went their way on Friday too. Stanton came out on top against Wisner-Pilger by a score of 51-43.
Stanton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Olivia Hupp, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hupp has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelby Pohlman, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nevaeh Brown, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Brown hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Emerson Bellar was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
Stanton's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Wisner-Pilger, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Stanton will be playing at home against Pender at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Pender will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. Wisner-Pilger will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lyons-Decatur Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th.
