It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Bishop Manogue Miners had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 28-10 victory over Spanish Springs. Winning may never get old, but Bishop Manogue sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Cody Fleischmann was his usual excellent self, rushing for 258 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Fleischmann's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Scolari, who picked up 116 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Bishop Manogue's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Salesi Manu was the leader with two sacks.
Bishop Manogue pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.8 points per game. As for Spanish Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Bishop Manogue will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Faith Lutheran at 12:20 p.m. on November 21st. Faith Lutheran has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 173 points over their last four games. Spanish Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
