While it was all tied up 12-12 at halftime, the Lemon Bay Manta Rays were not quite the Parrish Community Bulls's equal in the second half on Monday. Lemon Bay fell 55-43 to Parrish Community. Lemon Bay just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Lemon Bay's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cooper Benedict, who scored ten points along with six rebounds, and Elias Gambrell who scored eight points along with ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jagger Gould, who scored five points.
Parrish Community's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malakai Cuffy, who scored 12 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. Cuffy has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Dylan Higgins was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Lemon Bay's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-10. As for Parrish Community, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.
Lemon Bay will head out on the road to take on Imagine School at North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Imagine School at North Port is ranked 534th, while Lemon Bay is ranked 520th). As for Parrish Community, they will be playing at home against Lakewood Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Lakewood Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Tuesday.
