Holy Ghost Prep is a perfect 3-0 against Chichester since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Firebirds will square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Holy Ghost Prep's win against William Penn Charter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Firebirds had just enough and edged out the Quakers 9-8 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Firebirds.
Holy Ghost Prep got a great performance from Nick Armitage as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Armitage has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Bam McNabb was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Logan Novak also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Holy Ghost Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Chichester had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Buccaneers as they made off with a 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Gavin Derrickson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
In other batting news, Cole Sanford and Logan Werley did most of the damage at the plate: Sanford went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Werley went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Sanford is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Kester, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Chichester's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Holy Ghost Prep, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Holy Ghost Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chichester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Holy Ghost Prep took their win against Chichester in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
