If the Hudson Blue Hawks were feeling good off their 69-32 takedown of the Rensselaer Rams last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between Hudson and Watervliet wasn't particularly close, with Hudson falling 44-30. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hudson has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Hudson had strong showings from Moriah Walker, who scored seven points along with 16 rebounds, and Malia Jackson, who scored nine points along with 17 rebounds. Jackson scored a full 30% of Hudson's points, the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Hudson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Watervliet, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hudson will challenge Maple Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Maple Hill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hudson in New York (Maple Hill is ranked 100th, while Hudson is ranked 282nd). As for Watervliet, they will head out on the road to face off against Greenville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenville will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
