The East Central Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vancleave. East Central has struggled against Vancleave recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
East Central's loss came despite strong showings from Cartavious Myers and Brody Howard. Myers scored 18 points, while Howard scored 15 points. The contest was Myers' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Hopkins, who scored seven points.
East Central bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Vancleave, their win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Central will square off against Richton at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Richton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Central in Mississippi (Richton is ranked 81st, while East Central is ranked 265th). As for Vancleave, they will head out on the road to face off against Wayne County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wayne County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
