Baseball Recap: Sylva Bay Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Sylva Bay Academy waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against Discovery Christian as they made off with a 14-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Tripp Mcgee was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Levi West and Parker Webb did most of the damage at the plate: West went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run, while Webb scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits West has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lane Miller, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Sylva Bay Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Sylva Bay Academy's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Discovery Christian, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Sylva Bay Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Discovery Christian: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
