The Lanier County Bulldogs suffered their closest loss yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Charlton County by a score of 40-38. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lanier County in their matchups with Charlton County: they've now lost six in a row.
Charlton County found their leader in underclassman Trenity Hamilton, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Hamilton hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Lambert, who scored six points along with four steals.
Lanier County bumped their record down to 6-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Charlton County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lanier County will square off against Turner County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Turner County will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Charlton County, Charlton County and Clinch County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
