Wildwood has gone a perfect 6-0 against Williston recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Wildwood Wildcats will take on the Williston Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Wildwood is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Wildwood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 79-22 victory over Chiefland. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 28 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wildwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trinidy Harris, who went 10 for 23 to rack up 23 points and six steals. Adejah Corbin was another key player, putting up 13 points along with seven boards and four steals.
Wildwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Williston hadn't done well against Hawthorne recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Williston walked away with a 57-44 win over Hawthorne. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Hornets are ranked 93rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wildwood better keep an eye on Ashlyn Young. She was instrumental in Williston's win, going 5 of 10 en route to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Tiona Wilkinson, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.
Wildwood's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-0. As for Williston, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.
Saturday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Harris and Young. Harris has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 18.6 points, 3.7 steals, and 2.9 assists. For her part, Young has averaged 10.3 points, 2.2 steals, and 3.8 assists.
Everything came up roses for Wildwood against Williston when the teams last played back in January of 2023, as the squad secured an 83-12 win. Does Wildwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Williston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
