Poston Butte is a perfect 10-0 against Apache Junction since February of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Poston Butte Broncos will venture away from home to challenge the Apache Junction Prospectors at 3:45 p.m.
Poston Butte saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Poston Butte saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jerry Beck, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Cordd Baker was another, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Apache Junction entered their tilt with Palo Verde on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 16-1 win. Considering the Prospectors have won three games by more than 14 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Aidan Mead made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Apache Junction let Aiden Deleon and Dylan Blackwood run wild. Deleon scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Blackwood scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Apache Junction is undefeated when Deleon posts two or more runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Connor Trisoliere, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Apache Junction always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .565 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Poston Butte's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Apache Junction, their record now sits at 3-4.
Everything went Poston Butte's way against Apache Junction in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, as Poston Butte made off with a 20-3 victory. Does Poston Butte have another victory up their sleeve, or will Apache Junction turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
