2A Blue Mountain recap October 8, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Kaden Clark and Jordan Bailey connected against Union. The connection went for 63 yards, the longest such play in 2A Blue Mountain this season.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Stanfield beat Irrigon 50-34. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Tigers.
Heppner's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Clark threw for 259 and 4 touchdowns and Bailey had 113 yards receiving. On the ground Brian Rill contributed 123 yards. C.J. Kindle helped Heppner's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 58 yards.
Rill was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 123 yards on 14 carries as the Mustangs defeated the Bobcats. Weston Putmam also contributed to the rushing game with 52 yards on the ground.
Heppner's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Clark has thrown for 810 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Bailey has 14 catches for 218 yards.
The top two teams in 2A Blue Mountain will face off this week when first place Stanfield takes on second place Heppner.
Grant Union took down Enterprise 50-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.
