The West Cowboys pushed their score all the way to 71 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 88-71 to Walnut Ridge. While losing is never fun, West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while Walnut Ridge is ranked 179th).
Lj Foster was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with seven rebounds and two steals for Walnut Ridge. The team also got some help courtesy of Deon Johnson, who scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
West's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Walnut Ridge, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
West will play host again and welcome South, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something West surely won't give up without a fight. As for Walnut Ridge, they will head out on the road to challenge Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Walnut Ridge is facing Independence at the right time seeing as Independence is stuck on a 18-game losing streak.
