The Douglas Tigers just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Quaboag Regional Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Douglas has four straight victories, Quaboag Regional has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Douglas beat Blackstone-Millville 54-50. Given Douglas' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Blackstone-Millville is ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Douglas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adam Dunphy, who scored 19 points. Josh Farrell was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, Quaboag Regional came up short against Southbridge on Friday and fell 61-50.
Douglas pushed their record up to 6-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Quaboag Regional, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Douglas suffered a grim 52-32 defeat to Quaboag Regional in their previous matchup back in January of 2018. Can Douglas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
