The McIntosh Chiefs pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to Northside. McIntosh has struggled against Northside recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why McIntosh lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kendall Davis. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 19 rebounds. Davis is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Francie Elwell was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Northside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zariah Davis led the charge by scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least a third of Northside's points. The team also got some help courtesy of ZaKyra Mcgee, who scored 14 points.
McIntosh's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Northside, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-14 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McIntosh will take on Drew at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. McIntosh is facing Drew at the right time seeing as Drew is stuck on a 11-game losing streak. As for Northside, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Harris County at 6:00 p.m. Harris County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Northside likes a good challenge.
