The Avon Panthers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Calvary Chapel Academy at 5:30 p.m. Avon will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, Avon gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by Atlantis at home to the tune of 71-43. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Avon had established a 23 point advantage.
Avon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josiah Guerrier led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Guerrier has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 12 times he's played. Thomas Edwards was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds.
Calvary Chapel Academy was handed a 40-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against the Jaguar on Tuesday. Calvary Chapel Academy had just enough and edged the Jaguar out 52-49. The win was just what Calvary Chapel Academy needed coming off of a 90-50 loss in their prior game.
Avon's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Avon was able to grind out a solid victory over the in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 61-53. Will Avon repeat their success, or do the have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
