The Nazareth Area Blue Eagles came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 67-52 victory over Easton Area. Given Nazareth Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Easton Area is ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Easton Area still got an impressive performance from Ryan Cornish, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Henry, who scored nine points.
Nazareth Area's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Easton Area, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-9.
Nazareth Area won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Winchester Thurston at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Winchester Thurston has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Easton Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bethlehem Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
