The Newton Falls Tigers entered their tilt with the LaBrae Vikings with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Newton Falls came out on top against LaBrae by a score of 64-56 on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Jabriel Rufai continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Howard, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Newton Falls' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for LaBrae, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newton Falls will take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 754th, while Newton Falls is ranked 318th). As for LaBrae, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Champion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Champion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
