The Scales Mound Hornets came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 56-46 victory over Fulton. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Scales Mound also won the last time the pair played back in March.
Thomas Hereau continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with six assists and four steals. The contest was his 11th in a row with at least ten points. Seth Birkett was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Scales Mound's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Fulton, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Scales Mound will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Shullsburg at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. After both having extra time off, Fulton and Erie-Prophetstown will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th. Erie-Prophetstown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 692nd, while Fulton is ranked 133rd).
