The Kearney Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Oak Park Northmen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kearney has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last six games.
Last Tuesday, Kearney was fully in charge, breezing past Excelsior Springs 62-29 at home.
Kearney found their leader in underclassman Brooke Paalhar, who scored ten points along with eight assists and two steals. It was the first time this season that Paalhar posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Kayla Resler, who scored 12 points.
Even though Oak Park has not done well against Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Oak Park claimed a resounding 63-32 win over Central at home. Given Oak Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Central is ranked 349th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kearney's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Oak Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Kearney strolled past Oak Park in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 50-34. Will Kearney repeat their success, or does Oak Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
