Basketball Recap: Jaedon Ward's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Legacy over Eaglecrest

Legacy lost against Eaglecrest back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lightning fell 66-56 to the Raptors. While losing is never fun, the Lightning can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Raptors are ranked 46th).

Several Lightning players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaedon Ward, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 17 points. Ward is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Marcus Sias was another key player, putting up eight points along with six boards and three steals.

Demari Manns Davis had an outrageously good game for Eaglecrest as he went 9-for-14 on his way to 25 points and six rebounds. What's more, Manns Davis also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Reece Brown, who posted 13 points.

Legacy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Eaglecrest, they pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Legacy has already played their next matchup, a 56-54 defeat against Chatfield on the 10th. As for Eaglecrest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-68 win against Denver South on the 6th.
