Samm Wilbur and Graham Foust certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Wilbur dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, while Foust scored 11 points. That was a full 40% of Unity Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Morning Star Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Yowell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Yowell pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Hughes, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Unity Christian dropped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Morning Star Academy, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Unity Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Pathway Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Pathway Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday. As for Morning Star Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Galesburg Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Galesburg Christian is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
