The Montgomery Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 47-36 to Winnfield. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Montgomery in their matchups with Winnfield: they've now lost four in a row.
Montgomery lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Z Gates, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Gates. D. Moore was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, Montgomery were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Montgomery's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for Winnfield, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Montgomery will head out on the road to face off against Harrisonburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Winnfield, they will square off against Weston at TBD on Thursday.
