The Broken Bow Indians might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was the Gothenburg Swedes who claimed the real prize. Broken Bow was just a hair shy of victory and fell 22-21 to Gothenburg. Broken Bow has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Defeat or not, Broken Bow got some senior leadership from Eli Coble who rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries and Brice Chaplin who gained 110 total yards and two touchdowns. Coble was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards.
Broken Bow's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Gothenburg, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Broken Bow will look to defend their home field on Friday against Douglas County West at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Douglas County West is ranked 14th, while Broken Bow is ranked 31st). As for Gothenburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Sidney at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sidney will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
