Glenelg has gone 8-1 against Mt. Hebron recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Gladiators will face off against the Vikings at 4:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Glenelg came out on top against Reservoir on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Gladiators never let the Gators get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Gladiators considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Abi Nibert was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Matte Duignan, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Mt. Hebron put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Hammond as they made off with a 22-1 victory. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Gianna Giacoletto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with five RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Mt. Hebron got a massive performance out of Abby Magdar, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Magdar's first of the season. Alyssa Perez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Mt. Hebron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.
Glenelg's record now sits at 11-1. As for Mt. Hebron, their record is now 10-0.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Glenelg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .441. However, it's not like Mt. Hebron struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Glenelg's way against Mt. Hebron in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Glenelg made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Gladiators have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
