While losing is never fun, Douglas County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Raiders are ranked seventh).
Despite the loss, Douglas County still got an impressive performance from Sofia Baldessari, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 56.3% of Douglas County's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ciara Laman was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Coryn Watts continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Regis Jesuit, scoring 25 points along with seven assists and four steals. Watts hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Hana Belibi, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Douglas County has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Regis Jesuit, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglas County is on the road again on Friday and plays the Titans at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Legend will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Regis Jesuit, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Heritage has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
