Basketball Recap: West Linn Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kaylor Buse and Reese Jordan

If West Linn was feeling good fresh off their 77-52 takedown of West Salem last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The West Linn Lions fell to the McMinnville Grizzlies 69-64. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Grizzlies from their previous meeting back in March of 2020.

Reese Jordan and Kaylor Buse certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Jordan posted 24 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Buse went 8 of 18 en route to 20 points in addition to six assists and four blocks. Buse's morning made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Maxwell, who put up ten points and five boards.

West Linn has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for McMinnville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Linn will venture away from home to take on Willamette at 6:45 p.m. on January 7th. As for McMinnville, they are taking a road trip to challenge Beaverton at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th.
