Dutch Fork is 2-8 against White Knoll since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Silver Foxes will host the Timberwolves at 7:15 p.m.
Dutch Fork came into this matchup off a tough seven-run defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Wando by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. The Silver Foxes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lillie-Grace Moore put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Moore was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Moore wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Layla Peppers, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, White Knoll made sure to put some runs up on the board against River Bluff on Friday. The Timberwolves put the hurt on the Gators with a sharp 15-4 win. Considering the Timberwolves have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
White Knoll also got a great performance from EG Birchmore as she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Ashlynn Blackstone and Melinda Veller did most of the damage at the plate: Blackstone went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs, while Veller scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Veller a new career-high. Jaida Gay was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
White Knoll hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.
White Knoll is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5-1 record this season. As for Dutch Fork, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Dutch Fork skirted past White Knoll 13-12 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Silver Foxes repeat their success, or do the Timberwolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
