The Luling Eagles lost against the Smithville Tigers back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Luling was the victim of a tough 52-32 loss at the hands of Smithville. Luling has struggled against Smithville recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Luling's loss came despite strong showings from Skylar Dredla and Natalie Gomez. Dredla scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks, while Gomez scored seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Dredla has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played.
Luling's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Smithville, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.
Luling will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against El Campo at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday. El Campo is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Smithville, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Johnson City at 4:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Johnson City is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
