There's no place like home for the Wolfe County Wolves, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They secured a 69-63 W over Owsley County on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Wolfe County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Corey Flinchum out in front who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Flinchum also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Caleb Creech was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Wolfe County pushed their record up to 7-6 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points per game. As for Owsley County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wolfe County will take on Breathitt County at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Owsley County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Powell County at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. One thing working in Powell County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests.
