On Friday, Affton was able to grind out a solid victory over Villa Duchesne, taking the game 42-29.
Affton was led to victory by Emma Grana and Amelia Wilson. Grana scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, while Wilson scored 11 points along with three steals. Grana continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Melody Olesia, who scored two points along with eight rebounds.
Affton's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5. As for Villa Duchesne, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Affton will take on Seckman at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Seckman's defense has only allowed 28.1 points per game this season, so Affton's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Villa Duchesne, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Ursuline Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th.
