The Slidell Tigers will head out on the road to take on the St. Paul's Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Slidell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully St. Paul's likes a good challenge.
Slidell put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Tara 78-45 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Slidell has posted yet this season.
Jaden Hookfin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerry Birdlow, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, even though Salmen scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, St. Paul's still came out on top. St. Paul's walked away with a 70-61 victory over Salmen. Given St. Paul's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Salmen is ranked 153rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Slidell's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.9 points per game. As for St. Paul's, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
Slidell lost to St. Paul's on the road by a decisive 66-52 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Slidell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
