It was a good run, but the Nokomis Redskins unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Calhoun. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Nokomis in their matchups with Calhoun: they've now lost three in a row.
Nokomis' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Brownback, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Alivia Sabol was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Nokomis' defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Calhoun, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.
Nokomis' road trip will continue as they head out to face Jersey at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Nokomis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday. As for Calhoun, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Staunton at 8:00 p.m. on January 25th. Staunton's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Calhoun's offense will have their work cut out for them.
